If $A$ is a matrix in $\mathbb{F}^{n\times n}$, and $u,v\in \mathbb{F}^n$, then the matrix $A+u^\ast v$ is called a rank-one perturbation of the matrix $A$. These sometimes have nice properties in relation to the original matrix $A$.
